Jafaria Islamic Association celebrates Maulid Nabi

Jafaria Islamic Association in Sierra Leone, last Saturday 9th December, 2017 joined Muslims around the world in celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad ‘Peace and Blessing Be Upon Him and also commissioned a new mosque in the Mile 13 Community.

The celebration which took place at the Imam Rida A.S, Avenue at Mile 13 in the west end of Freetown, attracted hundreds of Muslims scholars from across the country.

Speaking at the twin event, Idriss Charm, who was the Chairman of the program, said there was need for the celebration of the prophet’s life, adding that it is worth celebrating by Muslims not only in the country but across the world.

Dr. Maithan Zadeh, a Muslim scholar and Principal for Al Mustapha University in Sierra Leone, said the birthday of the Prophet is very important to every Muslim across the world and that Sierra Leoneans are no exception.

Also speaking Imam Ali Sesay, said special thank you to the people of Mile 13 Community for gracing the occasion and further that the program was a twin event-the celebration of the birth of the prophet Mohammed and the opening of the Imam Ali Reza (AS) mosque in the community.

According to him, the mosque is the biggest worship place in the Mile 13 community and its environs, thus calling on the community people to take advantage of the mosque and use it for the right purpose.

 Osman Turay, Headman of the community, stated that they are happy about the development in the community, adding that he was going to make sure that the mosque is use for the right purpose and serve as learning centre for Islamic knowledge in the community.
