Executive Director of OlympAfrica International Foundation, Alassane Theirno Diack, on Thursday, November 23 ,urged Sierra Leonean sports authorities and the government not to miss the opportunities of having a standard OlympicAfrica Centre and other facilities like other African nations.
Diack, who was on a day’s fact-finding mission in Sierra Leone, said many other African countries have benefited a lot in having a well standard and state-of-the-art OlympicAfrica Centres, housing several sporting facilities and Sierra Leone should ensure they are not left out.
He said: “I only hope we have the OlympicAfrica venue back so that we can be able to rebuild the pitch and set up a better track. We can only give more and a further facelift when we have the venue back.
“Sierra Leone must not miss the opportunity to have such industrious facilities like other African nations.”
Works on the Sierra Leone OlympicAfrica Centre at Goderich was halted after a bulk of the land was given to the United Kingdom Join Ebola Task Force team, who set-up an Ebola treatment facility at the
Milton Margi College of Education and Technology (MMCET).
The ground is yet to be handed over to the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE), which the OlympAfrica International Foundation Executive is calling for.
Director Diack witnessed a football and handball matches plus cultural performance from junior and senior secondary school pupils.
