Bio: on a second liberation mission

Presidential candidate for the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), while addressing residents of Waterloo and its environ over the weekend noted that he was not afraid of the vicious intimidation against his supporters by members of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC), claiming that it is a strategy by the latter to create mayhem so that they can prolong their stay in power.

Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio said that for the past few months some of his supporters have been viciously attacked and killed, which according to him is part of a political ploy by the government to provoke violence among opposition members.

“I will advise all my supporters to keep the peace by maintaining law and order. I want to assure you that the 2018 elections must go on as scheduled and I cannot be intimidated by the APC. The days of the APC are over. This time is for SLPP,” he said. “We are determined to again liberate our people from poverty, bad governance, and economic instability.”

He added that the ten years of APC administration has been calamity for the people of Sierra Leone.

‘’It is only with APC that Sierra Leoneans have experienced Ebola, mudslide, and now economic hardship. A bag of rice under the SLPP was Le60, 000, now it is Le150, 000. The exchange rate for one hundred dollars at the moment is Le750, 000. Most of the MDAs have not receive their second quarter subvensions. This clearly shows that the APC is a bad government,” he said.
