The Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) last Friday, 3 November, certified 50 youth in entrepreneurship and business skills after a three -day training at their headquarters in Freetown.

Speaking at the end of the training, Project Manager Joseph Aiah Kange said the project targeted approximately 1,230 beneficiaries from Freetown, Makeni and Pujehun.

He said they were issuing out certificates to 50 participants in order to motivate them after the three-day training on business and leadership.

“An additional twelve weeks will be set up for these participants and it will be done by one of our sub-contractors, a call to business to help them with business training, mentoring and coaching,” he said.

He assured of YMCA’s support to the youth as they are very pivotal to development, adding that they have a monitoring system to track each and every participant with a strong business idea.

Joseph F.K. Swaray , youth enterpreurship and head of training for Queens Young Leaders, stated that YMCA partnered with Comic relief to ensure that the training was successful. He said the training targeted those that are educated but without jobs and others with existing businesses.

One of the beneficiaries of the training, Alicious Gbao, expressed thanks and appreciation to YMCA for conducting the training, adding that the training would go a long way in empowering him.
