The media department at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed that newly named Leone Stars caretaker coach, Sellas Tetteh, will be presented to the press this week.
The Ghanaian was named as caretaker boss of the Sierra Leone national team as they (SLFA) put on hold their search for a permanent coach.
According to Abu Bakar Kamara, SLFA head of media, Tetteh will be presented to the press for unveiling and clarifications.
The 58-year-old will be in charge for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against champions Ivory Coast on 5 September, but the SLFA is yet to get a venue for the match as Sierra Leone is currently not allowed to host international games due to Ebola situation in the country.
According to a release from the FA, Tetteh will be assisted by a group of local coaches. The Football Association statements reads: “The SLFA is honoured to inform the general public that the Ghanaian FA in a solidarity gesture has agreed to a three-month loan with the SLFA for Coach Sellas Teivi Tetteh to serve in a caretaker capacity as national coach for Leone Stars.
“The Ghanaian FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi was keen to lend support to the SLFA as a sign of support and solidarity towards Sierra Leone’s determination to continue its participation in the games, despite tremendous mounting odds.”
The Ghanaian, who won the 2009 U-20 World Cup with Ghana, will have a daunting task to get Leone Stars back on the 2017 Nations Cup campaign after they lost their opening match in the qualifier 1-0 to Group I opponents Sudan in June, when the suspended SLFA technical director John Jebbor Sherrington was caretaker coach.
