Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.1 yesterday denied bail to one Danald Dumbuya who was charged with two counts of wounding with intent and wounding contrary to Section 18 & 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.
The prosecution alleges that the accused on Wednesday 28th June 2017, at Cantonment Road, Red Pump in Freetown, wounded Aruna Rashid Sesay with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.
Lawyer A. B. Kargbo pleaded with the Bench to admit his client to bail on the grounds that he has been in custody for weeks.
The defense lawyer noted that his client was the breadwinner of his family and a responsible Sierra Leonean that has reliable sureties that would stand in his cognizance and would be available in court anytime he is needed.
Magistrate Santigie Bangura however denied the bail application made by the lawyer and remanded the accused in custody and his matter adjourned to the 20th July, 2017.
