One of the leading commercial banks in the country, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has spent millions of Leones to renovate the St. John Primary School building and make learning convenient for pupils attending the school.
Apart from doing extremely well in the area of banking services with the recognition of several international awards, the bank has been providing support to boost education and other sectors in the country as part of their corporate social responsibility.
During the handing over of the building, the bank’s Managing Director, Gbenga Alade, assured of his institution’s continued support towards the improvement of education in the country.
He said the renovation was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility by giving back to people.
Also speaking was the Head Teacher of the school, Prince Edward Akinwade Clarkson, who commended the bank for their prompt intervention to ensure that pupils learn in a conducive environment.
“I am very happy for this renovation by Guaranty Trust Bank. Honestly, this is not a novelty for me for the bank to assist the school. They have renovated the school in the past but this one is massive,” he said.
Ask about the kind of renovation carried out by the bank, Mr. Clarkson disclosed that the bank provided the necessary fund to paint, provided power supply and furniture for pupils.
He urged other organisations and well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to emulate the good example of GTB by helping to boost quality education in the school.
Speaker after speaker were full of praises for the bank’s timely intervention and urged them to continue to do more for not only St. John Primary School, but other schools as well.
