ITV, a Chines Television company that would be providing quality and affordable television network in Sierra Leone, yesterday donated over 200 bags of bags of rice worth millions of Leones, to over nineteen mosques and the National Disability Football Team in Freetown and Waterloo respectively.
Speaking at their Wilkinson Road office during the donation ceremony, Deputy Executive Director of Marketing, Yusuf Baraka Forewa, said ITV is a Chinese television company that is in the country to provide quality and affordable television network to Sierra Leoneans.
He said they have over one hundred and fifty channels in their packages and that their dishes, decoder and subscription would be cheaper, compared to DST and other networks in the country.
He disclosed that they were yet to officially launch the company, but thought it fit to donate to Muslims in the country during the Holy Month of Ramadan as part of their corporate social responsibility, adding that they would be doing the same to Christians in every December month.
He said they would make sure that their coverage cut across the country, starting operations from Freetown to the provinces and make sure everybody enjoys television viewing.
Also speaking, the Assistant General Manager of the company, Elinda Chen, said they were providing quality network in all the countries they operate and that they would replicate the same in Sierra Leone.
She said they believed that information and entertainment are very important rights to people, which was why they were in the country to provide that right to the people of Sierra Leone.
She also disclosed that some of their staff would be given the opportunity to go to China and acquire further skills in information technology, adding that the donation was to inform people that they were in the country with their quality products and ready to satisfy their customers.
Appreciating the donation, Shek Idrissa Sesay, Chief Imam at the Masjid Fataha Mosque, Wilkinson Road, expressed their gratefulness, stating that the donation has a long way to go, especially during the Month of Ramadan and promised that they would work with the company and give their own contribution.
