Former Minister of Internal Affairs and Lands, Country Planning and Environment, has urged Muslims across the country to embrace Islam completely by propagating its ideology, practice and put Allah first in whatever they do.

Alhaji Musa Tarawally made the plea during the handing over of business start-up support to some one hundred disable Muslims in Freetown, worth millions of Leones by the Ummah Welfare Trust from the United Kingdom.

Mr.Tarawally has been at the centre in the promotion and propagation of the Islamic faith in Sierra Leone and has been the pioneer behind the coming of the Ummah Welfare Trust that has invested a whopping one billion Leones in the lives of poor Muslims.

“Islam is the true religion. If Islam progresses, Sierra Leone will become a God fearing nation. Muslims form the bulk of our population. Let none of you be discouraged in the practice and promotion of Islam. Let us worship Allah alone and stay away from all bad things,” Alhaji Tarawally urged.

He reckoned that it was only when Sierra Leone become a God fearing nation that it will prosper, while calling on everyone to put God first in all their activities for success.

He expressed his delight to the United Council of Imams, Supreme Islamic Council and the Sierra Leone Muslim Missionaries Union, working as one to promote Islam, something which he has been striving for since 2007.

According to him, he sees it as a sacred responsibility to help promote and defend the principles of Islam across the country because he hailed from a strong Muslim background.

Alhaji Tarawally thanked President Ernest Bai Koroma for giving him the free will to come with the organization from the UK because of his quest to support Islam in the country.

“The Ummah Welfare Trust is spending a whopping 25 million pounds every year to promote Islam worldwide. The organization has chosen Sierra Leone to support the promotion of Islam, which is why they have provided one billion Leones to invest in poor Muslims,” he stated.

He maintained that the business start-up support to disable Muslims would be a pilot project and that if successful; more funds would be made available by the organization to expand to other parts of the country.

The former minister spoke about plans to build houses and an institute to provide the necessary skills for the less privilege Muslims, as well as a project that would  see Imams start receiving salaries on a monthly basis.

President of the Supreme Islamic Council, Alhaji Sheikh Muhammad Taha Jalloh, thanked Alhaji Musa Tarawally for being the brain behind the coming of the organization and for promoting Islam in the country.

He appealed to the organization for incentives to be given to Imams across the country on a monthly basis because as it is now, they were not getting anything for the wonderful work they were doing.

Mufti Yusuf Sabri from the Ummah Welfare Trust said: “I urge you Muslims to believe in Allah by not associating anything to him and also recognizing that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is Allah’s messenger. Please make good use of the support to change your lives for the better.”
