Salone trio on scoresheet in Europe & America

July 28, 2015 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Three Sierra Leonean strikers – Kei Kamara, Shaka Bangura and Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura – were all on target over the weekend in their respective leagues in the United States of America and Europe.

In the United States, striker Kei Kamara continues to lead the U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS) goal-scoring chart after netting his 15th goal of the season as his Columbus Crew side were forced to a 3-3 draw by Toronto FC at the Mapfre Stadium on Saturday.

The 30-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 17th minute for the Crew before Tony Tchani doubled the lead with a long-range blast in the 36th minute, and Ethan Finlay made it 3-0 in the 48th minute. Toronto FC were however able to force the match to a draw after a late comeback.

In the North American Soccer League (NASL), Shaka Bangura – who was a late substitute – sealed Atlanta Silver Back’s 3-1 win over FC Edmonton with his 88th minute strike.

In Europe, Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura registered his seventh goal of the season in all competition as he helped AIK defeat Elfsborg 4-2.

In the Swedish second division, Mohamed Kabia played full time for FC Linkoping in their 2-1 win over Assyriska IF Norrköping, whilst defender Mohamed Bangura also featured full time for Härnösands FF but were defeated 1-2 by Anundsjö If.

Elsewhere, Hassan Sesay played full time for Lahti in their 0-2 win over Inter Turku, but his countryman, Ibrahim ‘Marcel’ Koroma was left out of the Lyngby squad that defeated HB Køge 1-0.
