Assistant Director of Don Bosco “Fambul,” Samuel   Thomas Bojohn,   has disclosed that their facility has been overstretched since after the fire incident that took place at Angola Town, Fort Street.

He made the above statement last Thursday while receiving donated food items from the Staff Association of UNICEF.

Bojohn said the facility was hosting over 54 lactating mothers, 85 women, and over fifty children, adding that the population at the facility had been tripled.

“We cook more than a bag of rice for a day and spend over six hundred thousand Leones on soup per day,” he said

He said a meeting was recently held with officials of the Office of National Security, in which they decided to work on a comprehensive package for the fire victims to be relocated somewhere.

He continued that some children lost all their school materials to the inferno and that they were unable to attend school for the time being.

He urged the government to double up as the children had missed their first term assessment test.

Chairman of the Staff Association of UNICEF, Issa Davies, said Christmas period was a time of giving out to the needy, adding that they decided to donate to Don Bosco since they were hosting the fire victims.

He said the food items, which included bags of rice, oil, cartoons tomato, onions and Maggi would be accepted as a little token, adding that the gift was purchased with funds from members of the Association.

He said staff thought of the little children who were affected by the fire and deemed it fit to support the less privilege.

Director of Don Bosco “Fambul”, father Jorge Chriscafulli, thanked the Association, noting that no gift was so small to be accepted.

He said the donation would help to relieve the children at the centre, as they were in dire need of the donation, stressing that the items would be used for the intended purpose.
