Executive and members of the Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association (SLTTA) are eagerly waiting on response from the Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E Maher Almahdy in relation to the international training camp for its athletes.

Earlier, the association, through the help of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) expert, Mohamed Gharib, sought  for assistant for its athletes to undergo standard training and camping in Egypt-a request which the Egyptian Ambassador has already  endorsed.

With the ITTF expert currently wrapping up on the phase II of the ITTF/ ATTF Federation Developing National Association (DNA) training programs for kids below 12 years, the SLTTA is anticipating a further international exposure for its youngsters.

The SLTTA President, Alie Lakish, said Egypt would be the ideal place for the players because it was being referred to as the home for Africa Table Tennis.

He said: “As soon as the DNA training program for the kids is completed, we are expecting the training camp. So if all goes as plan, by January, we are hoping to see the four players training in a more relaxed atmosphere that will enable them to be more focused for the period they will be staying in Egypt.”

The DNA training will be climaxed on Saturday 17th December 2016 at the Table Tennis Gym at the Siaka Steven Stadium in Freetown, while the phase one of the program was hosted from 12th -21st November this year.
