Kabaddi: Canada ends Sierra Leone semi-final hopes

Canada male Kabaddi national team ended Sierra Leone’s chances of reaching the semi-finals of the ongoing Dr. BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi tournament in Punjab with a 13 points win.

Sierra Leone was on the brink of a possible semi-final spot after they registered their second victory at the tournament on match day 8, with 8 points win over Sweden, thanks to 43-35 score.

However, Monday’s defeat to Canada ended the West Africans hopes of progressing, having suffered earlier defeat to host India and England.

The clash against Canada saw the Canadians registered 48-35 and Canada raiders, Manvir Singh scored 12 points followed by Kulwinder Singh Kinda Biharipuria with 10 points,while stoppers, Baljit Singh Saidoke and Amandeep Singh both secured 3 points each. For Sierra Leone, Joseph scored 13 and Lebbie scored 7 points and stopper Saidu and Leslie secured 2 and 1 point respectively.

In the other Pool A match, hosts India scored their fifth successive victory by defeating England with a 56-37 margin and topped the Pool to reach the semi- finals, as it was England first defeat in the tournament but they make it to the semis with four victories.

Sierra Leone finished fourth in the log behind Canada and above Sri Lanaka and Sweden.
