One Fatmata Mateneh Mansaray last Thursday made her last appearance before Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara for allegedly kidnaping a two-month-old baby girl.
The accused was before the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1 on a count of child kidnapping, contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on 2 September, 2016 at Mongagba village, along the Regent-Grafton Road, kidnapped a two-month-old baby girl.
Detective Police Constable 12143 Sheiku Turay, attached to the Regent Police Post, told the court that on 2 September, 2016 a case of child kidnapping was reported to the post, while a statement was obtained from the complainant and other witnesses.
The detective continued that he visited the crime scene at Mongagba village and on that 13 September the accused was arrested at Rokel village.
He said a police medical request form was issued to the complainant on behalf of the victim for treatment, while a charge statement was obtained from the accused person on 5 October, 2016.
Dr. Binneh-Kamara stated that the prosecution has led sufficient evidence against the accused person to warrant her committal to the High Court.
The matter was prosecuted by Sergeant 5115 Margret Kpundeh.
