There was pandemonium at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No. 1, presided over by Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara, when accused Aruna Kalokoh, a Wounded-in-Action (WIA) ex-military officer, appeared shitty.

Kalokoh is one of four accused persons charged with conspiracy and robbery with violence, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

He identified himself as an ex-soldier, insisting the charges against him were mere allegation, adding that his dramatic action was inspired by weeks on remand without trial.

However, his desperate antics did not yield not any fruit as the proceeding still went ahead.

His co-accused persons include Alhaji Mansaray, Abdul Rahman Sesay, Mohamed Sesay and Aminata Dabor.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons on diverse dates between 1st and 4th October, 2016 along Siaka Stevens Street, conspired with unknown individuals to commit robbery with violence by robbing one Horatio Nelson-Williams, carting away a vehicle valued US$24,000 (equivalent to Le174m), one Samsung dual sim mobile phone valued Le800,000 and a vehicle spare tyre valued Le600,000; totaling Le175.5.

Meanwhile, Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent Samuel Kamara applied for an adjournment to enable him summon his witnesses.

The matter was adjourned to 28 October, 2016 for the prosecution to open its case.
