Six suspected gangs have been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown after they appeared before Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh-Kamara on three counts of conspiracy to murder, murder, riotous conduct and carrying of offensive weapons, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The men were not allowed to take plea.

Police alleges that Muctarr Shyllon, Sahr David Bindi, Paul Tarawallie, Arnold Sanniver, Maju Sheriff and Saidu Conteh on Sunday August 28, 2016 conspired to murder and murdered Ishmail Suma at Fredrick Street in Freetown.

They also alleged that the men behaved in a riotous manner and that one of them was found with an offensive weapon, contrary to Sections 12(a) and 16(1) of the Public Order Act of 1965.

Assistance Superintendent of Police, Samuel Kamara told the court that the issue of terror attacks and killing by clique gangs were on the increase and that the court must set a precedent in order to minimize clique violence.

Defence lawyer, C. F Edwards was not given audience to make bail application on behalf of his clients.

Magistrate Binneh-Kamara refused them bail but promised to consider that after the preliminary investigations.

Meanwhile, one Abdul Karim Kamara was also remanded by the same magistrate for the offence of murder.

Both matters have been adjourned to 21st October, 2016 for the prosecutions to open their case.
