Old Prince Waleans Cricket Club will keepstart their campaign in the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) T20 Division I League when they take on Kenemajane Cricket Club in match two of the league opener on Saturday, 15 October, at the Prince of Wales school ground, Kingtom.
The two teams have already been dubbed by cricket followers as the tournament favorites because of their batting and fielding strengthen.
Meanwhile, before the Prince Waleans/Kenemajane battle, Richmond and the Old Academician Cricket Club will get the tournament off with early action of the day at the same venue.
The following day, Wanderers Cricket Club will battle against Regent Olympic in the first match while Murray Town CC will take on Albert Academy.
SLCA Chief Executive Officer, Francis Trevor Samura, told Concord Sports that the tournament revised fixtures now include seven teams– Wanderers Cricket Club, Old Prince Waleans Club, Regent Olympic CC, Murray Town CC, Richmond CC, Kenemajane and Old Academician CC– instead of the earlier six teams.
He said the decision to include Kenemajane came after the club’s ban was lifted by the association. Samura further revealed that despite the increase in teams, only two teams will be promoted from Division One to the Premier League and that one paramount thing they will consider in this year’s tournament is discipline.
The competition will climax on 30 October with Wanderers Club taking on Murray Town and Kenemajane will battle against Olympics respectively.
