The Sierra Leone Karate Association has been identified to host the 24th edition of Zone II Championships in March 2018.
The decision to give Sierra Leone the 2018 hosting right was made via a drawing format at the just concluded 22nd edition Zone II Championship in Bamako, Mali.
According to Zone II federation, the draw was done for the hosting of the championships for the next four years with Conakry, Guinea announced as the next host for the 23rd edition in March 2017 while the All African Championships will be hosted in Bamako, Mali in May 2017.
Sierra Leone was given the 24th edition hosting right, which is scheduled for March 2018, while The Gambia will host the 25th edition in the following year.
In related development, the International Karate Federation has offered Sierra Leone two slots to compete in the World Championship, which is slated for Linz, Austria from 21st -31st October 2016.
The invitation was said to have come in the form of a scholarship just few days after the team returned from the Zone II championship where they won six medals; five bronze and a sliver.
