Sierra Leone and FC Zurich central defender, Umaru ‘Zangalay’ Bangura, has been ruled out of the club’s Europa League second round home fixture against Turkey’s Osmanlispor today.
The Leone Stars captain (pictured in hospital) has been confirmed to be out of action for the next two weeks as he recovers from a surgery on his left thumb finger.
Bangura, who played full time in last Thursday’s 2-1 away defeat to Villarreal, revealed he hurt his finger during a training session in preparation for the clash against the Spanish outfit.
He said: “I hurt my left thumb finger during training before our last Europa league game against Villarreal. My finger was operated on last Tuesday and I was given three weeks to recover. I’m almost a week into the recovery period and it remains two weeks.
The former Dinamo Minsk defender is hoping to return to the pitch a stronger player.
Bangura joined Swiss side FC Zurich in August from Belarusian club Dinamo Minsk and became only the second Sierra Leone international to join a Swiss club after the legendary Mohamed Kallon, who played for AC Lugano.
