A fraud matter involving one Bobson Frederic Amara, who allegedly purported to be Paramount Chief of Temide Chiefdom in the Moyamba District, was yesterday committed to the High Court for trial.
The accused was before the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, presided over by Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara, on nine counts of forgery, uttering, attempting to defraud and impersonation, contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on 29th May, 2016 at the Department For International Development (DFID), Spur Road, in Freetown, with intent to defraud, forged a letterhead purported to have been prepared and signed by Paramount Chief Kingibomeh Nyadeboh II of Temide Chiefdom in Moyamba, knowing same to be false.
The prosecution also alleges that the accused on the same date, at the Sierra Leone Opportunities for Business Action (SOBA), No.6 Maze Street, with intent to defraud, forged a letterhead purported to have been prepared and signed by Paramount Chief Kingibomeh Nyadeboh II of Temide Chiefdom in Moyamba District, knowing same to be false.
The particulars continued that the accused on 29th May, 2016 at DFID, with intent to defraud, deceitfully pretended to be Paramount Chief Kingibomeh Nyadeboh II and attempted to obtain Solar Energy Panel from DFID.
In his ruling, Magistrate Dr.Binneh-Kamara stated that the prosecution called three witnesses and that they had led sufficient evidence against the accused to warrant his committal to the High Court.
“I have gone through the evidence in this matter and I am satisfied that the accused has a question to answer pursuant to the offences as charged. I therefore commit this matter to the High Court,” he ruled.
