The Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) yesterday confirmed the sudden but peaceful passage of its chairperson, Retired Justice M.E. Tholla Thompson.
A terse release by the commission late evening yesterday read: “The Commission expresses our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and the people of Sierra Leone.
“Hon Justice Tolla Thompson before his death served the Judiciary for over forty years before he was appointed by H.E. Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma as Chairman of the PPRC in 2012.
“Funeral Service arrangement will be announced later.
“A book of condolence will be opened at the Commission’s headquarters, OAU Drive, Tower Hill, Freetown on Tuesday 27th September 2016 at 1pm.
The septuagenarian had a glittering career in the judiciary, beginning first as a magistrate and went to become a Judge of the Apex Court.
He also served as President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
He is survived by his wife and adult children, including several grandchildren.
