More tributes have been pouring in for the former Leone Stars legend Mahmadu Alphajor Bah alias ‘Gazza’, who passed away last Wednesday, with the latest coming from the number one football personality in the world, FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

In a message sent to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Isha Johansen, on behalf of the international football community, Infantino expressed his dismay and sadness on the passing of the former Leone Stars attacking midfielder-cum-striker, more importantly with the bereaved Bah family.

“I was sad to hear the passing away of the former Sierra Leone striker and legend Mahmadu Alphajor Bah (‘Gazza’) who died in a road accident in Freetown last Wednesday. Please accept my deepest condolences.

“On behalf of the members of the international football community, I should be grateful if you could also extend our condolences to his family and loved ones.

“We hope that in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness,” the FIFA boss stated.

The late Alphajor Bah, who made over 28 appearances for Leone Stars, was laid to rest on Thursday in Freetown in a well-attended civic funeral. During his career, he played for Halmstads BK in Sweden, KSC Lokeren in Belgium, Xiamen Lanshi and Zhejiang Lücheng in China, Al-Qadisiya in Saudi Arabia, Chunnam Dragons in South Korea and Perlis FA in Malaysia.
