The International Cricket Council (ICC-Africa) Regional Development Manager, Cassim Suleiman, has sent a condolence message to the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) and the family of departed Public Relations Officer Samuel Alfred John, a.k.a. Junior John.
Suleiman’s message was delivered to the SLCA Chief Executive Officer, Francis Trevor Samura, at the ongoing ICC-Africa U-19 World Cup qualifiers in South Africa on Wednesday.
The message reads: “It is with our deepest sympathies that we wish to pass on our sincere condolence to the bereaved family and friends on the passing of Sierra Leone Cricket Association’s Public Relations Officer, Samuel Alfred John.
“May the almighty give the bereaved family and friends the strength to get through this sad time and great loss. May his soul rest in enteral peace.”
The late John passed away on Monday, 12th September at the Choithrams Hospital, where he was rushed to when he had an attack. Until his death, he was a senior sports journalist who trained young sports reporters like Mohamed Fajah Barrie and Bernard Turay to report on cricket.
