Sierra Leone international midfielder Mohamed Medo Kamara has joined Kuwait VIVA Premier League side Kuwait SC.

Kamara’s move to the Asian side ends weeks of speculation over his transfer. The 28-year-old midfielder confirmed the move himself after he shared a tweet on Tuesday in which he was welcomed to the AL Kuwait SC.

“@MedoK_4, We would like to welcome you at the Kuwait Sports Club, we wish you good luck and season victories,” reads the tweet from the Kuwait club, which the Sierra Leonean midfielder shared.

The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder also added on his twitter profile: “Professional footballer Kuwait Sporting Club, Sierra Leone International.  All Thanks to God.”

Medo Kamara’s move to Kuwait SC ended his five month re-union spell with HJK Helsinki in Finland after leaving Bolton Wanderers last season – a club he signed for £750,000 in January 2013. But after featuring heavily in his first 18 months, he was frozen out by the club’s former manager Neil Lennon.

The former Partizan and Maccabi Haifa player will be the first Sierra Leonean player to put on the colours of The Brigadiers and will join other African players like Ivory Coast’s Juma Saeed and Moroccan Adil Rehaily.

Kuwait SC is one of the country’s most decorated clubs and have won the Kuwaiti Premier League 11 times, with the most recent one coming in 2013. The team has 37 trophies to its name in the country’s football history and they are the first Kuwaiti club to ever win an Asian title – the AFC Cup in 2009,2012 and 2013.
