Detective Sergeant 5572 Kindo Papa Kamara, attached to Congo Cross Police, yesterday told a Freetown Magistrate that the body of deceased Paul Ambrose Short, who was allegedly murdered by one Abu Bakarr Goma, was found under the Peace Bridge at Congo Cross in Freetown.
While testifying before Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara at Court No.1, Sergeant Kamara stated that on 20 March, while on duty, the accused was arrested and brought to the station for an alleged offence of murder.
He said he and a team of detectives, including the Local Unit Commander, visited the scene of crime, where the deceased was found beneath the bridge.
The witness continues that the remains of the deceased was identified to them by the complainant as Paul Ambrose Short, a.k.a. Money Price.
The Sergeant stated that the corpse was taken to the Connaught Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy, while statement was obtained from the complainant.
He continues that on 21 March, he and detective Sergeant 7681 Karbgo H.S. obtained voluntary caution statement from the accused.
He said on 24 March, he and Detective Sergeant 9363 Kamara E.A. witnessed the postmortem examination of the deceased conducted by government pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma, at the Connaught Mortuary.
He further testified that the matter was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters for further investigation.
The accused is before the court on one count of murder contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on 19 March, 2016 murdered the victim at Main Motor Road Bridge, Congo Cross, west Freetown.
The matter continues on 29 August.
