The search for Sierra Leonean men with stamina, strength, and courage has commenced in the ‘Mi na King’ campaign with King Leone Beer, a brand that is bottled and brewed by the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL).
The campaign was launched on Friday at the Shangri La Hotel in Freetown.
King Leone Beer is bottled and manufactured by Sierra Leone Brewery Limited, with 7 percent alcohol. Farming cooperative provide Sierra Leone Brewery with the grains that are used to brew King Leone beer.
The winner of the competition would be announced in November and grand prize would be awarded to four different people- Le 10 million each.
Speaking during the campaign launch, Chief Executive Officer of Vicky Remoe&Co Marketing Company, Vickie Remoe says people any age can send a submission, but only men 18 years and above would be eligible for entry to be King Leone.
She says those that are sending entries should have no criminal records or any other negative indulgence and that they should be in good standing with their families.
“You know these men. You see them every day. You talk to them every day. King Leone could be the engineer who is building our roads, the electrician who is climbing up high poles to fix out electricity, the contractor who is helping us build our dream homes. They have strength, they have stamina and they work hard every single day. Mi Na King is our way of reward and recognition our hard working men,” she says.
According to her, the winners would become brand ambassadors for King Leone and they would be used in the commercialization of the product.
She says one can take part by buying a bottle of King Leone Beer, have a drink and take a picture with their King Leone Beer and in 100 words or less explain why they deserve to be King Leone.
The Brand Manager of Alcohol Product SLBL, Arthur Kallon says the beer is local content friendly, noting that the ingredients in the beer are cultivated in Sierra Leone and that it would help to boost the agricultural sector.
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ibrahim W. Mansaray praised the beer for it taste and looks.
He commended SLBL for promoting the local content policy in the country, adding that 90 percent of staff at SLBL are Sierra Leoneans.
