One Ezekiel Mohamed Marcus Bassie was last Friday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown for an alleged sexual penetration of his stepdaughter.
The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, presided over by Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara, on one count of sexual penetration of child contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on diverse dates between April and May 2016, at Spur Loop, in Freetown, sexually abused the victim, aged 12.
Police Prosecutor, 594 Sesay M. told the court that her witnesses were not present in court and pleaded with the magistrate to adjourn the matter to enable her assemble them.
Magistrate Dr. Binneh-Kamara granted the application and adjourned the matter to 17 August, 2016 when the prosecution is expected to open their case.
In another development in the same court, Magistrate Dr. Binneh-Kamara sentenced four accused persons to three months imprisonment or pay an alternative fine of Le350,000 each, after being convicted on five counts of loitering with intent.
The convicts are: AbuBakarr Bangura, Fatmata Tarawallie, Juliana Harold, Sia Sesay and Fatu Sesay.
