One Richard Ashidin Abu, who is alleged to have defrauded Alafia Wray by falsely pretending that he has two plots of land at Allen Town for sale, has named Lawyer J.K. Lansana as the intermediary and receiver of the money.

While testifying last Friday before Magistrate Albert J. Moody at the Freetown Magistrates’  Court No.1, the complainant told the court that sometime in August and October, 2014 he asked one Mr Sheriff to find him a piece of land to buy.

He said Mr Sheriff subsequently told him about a piece of land situated at Upper Allen Town, Orogu, for sale.

“Mr Sheriff took me to the land and I observed it. Later the accused was introduced to me as the owner of the said land. We agreed on Le6 million for the two town lot,” he said, adding “the accused told me that the payment should be made through his Lawyer, J.K. Lansana, which I did.

At that juncture, Police Prosecutor Sergeant 5984n Fofanah I. G., pleaded with the magistrate for an adjournment in order to have time to hold a conference with the witness.

Magistrate Moody granted the accused bail in the sum of Le50m and two sureties who should be resident in the Western Area.

The accused was arraigned on six counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, contrary to law.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused on diverse dates in August and October, 2014 at Brook Street, Freetown, obtained, through his lawyer, the sum of Le11 million from the complainant, by falsely pretending to have two plots of land at Upper Allen Town, Orogo, for sale, knowing same to be false.
