Kallay rescues Piteå IF

June 21, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sierra Leonean international, Ibrahim Kallay, on Sunday rescued a point for Piteå IF in their 1-1 draw with Västerås SK at the LF Arena in the Swedish first division league.

Swedish striker Karwan Safari gave the visitors the lead in the 32 minutes, but Kallay’s 47th minute strike leveled things up for the home side to secure a point from the tie. The goal was the former FC Kallon midfielder’s first in seven matches this season.

Central defender Ibrahim Marcel Koroma is the other Sierra Leonean that was in action in the Swedish third tier league as his Husqvarna club suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Utsikten, while in the Swedish Superettan league, midfielder Abu Suma was introduced in the 83 minutes in IFK Frej’s 5-2 thumping of Halmstad.

In Finland, Leone Stars assistant captain and HJK Helsinki midfielder, Mohamed Medo Kamara, enjoyed 83 minutes of action before being replaced by Dahlström in their 2-3 win over SJK, while Kamara’s compatriot Hassan Sesay played for 90 minutes for Lahti in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with HIFK.

Still in Finland, attacking midfielder Abdul Sesay’s full time action could not help save his OPS side from suffering a 1-3 defeat at home to Kajaani in the Finnish Kakkonen league.

The U.S Major League Soccer resumed over the weekend, with Sierra Leonean striker Kei Kamara still searching for his first New England Revolution goal. Despite enjoying his third full time action for his new side, the former Columbous Crew forward failed to get his name on the score-sheet as New England Revolution registered their first away win this season with a 1-2 win over Whitecaps.

Striker Alhaji Kamara is still waiting to get his first start for DC United as he replaced Vincent in the 69th minutes in their goalless draw with Houston Dynamo, while midfielder Micheal Lahoud had full time run for Miami FC but they went down 3-1 to Minnesota United in the U.S second tier league.

In Belarus, David Simbo enjoyed 65 minutes action for Krumkachy as they secured a 1-0 win over Vitebsk. Unlike Simbo, who was on the winning side, his countryman umaru Bangura’s  Dinamo Minsk suffered 0-1 defeat to Neman Grodno.
