Sierra Leone international, Alfred Zagalo Sankoh, has parted company with Turkish Super Lig side Balıkesirspor, just a season after joining them from Azerbaijani top flight league club Khazar Lankaran.

The Turkish second tier league side confirmed the news of a mutual termination of the player’s contract on their club website, while Sankoh also admitted and revealed the reasons for the said decision.

“The news about the contract termination is true and it was done a week before coming for the Nations Cup qualifiers against Sudan. Even though I was still having a year left, however conditions were no longer favourable so I decided to look elsewhere,” Sankoh told Concord Spots in an exclusive interview.

The former Strømsgodset and Şanlıurfaspor also revealed that he and his agent are currently looking at several offers from Turkey, Azerbaijan, while admitting that other European clubs are after his signature, but a decision was yet to be made over his next destination.

Sankoh played over 18 matches during his one year spell with the Turkish club and also featured in the Turkey Cup competition where he scored a goal for the Red-white.

The contract termination ends Sankoh’s second spell in the Turkish second tier league. His first spell was with Sanliurfaspor from 2012-2014, where he scored three goals in 57 matches. He later moved to Khazer Lankaran in Azerbaijan, where he played 25 matches and scored two goals.

He had previously played in Norway for Ullern and Stromsgodset for four seasons, scoring seven goals in 79 appearances. Sankoh has made 10 appearances so far for Leone Stars ‘A’ team.
