Witness says deceased was seen with a lady

June 1, 2016 By Hawa Amara

Police Constable 9338 Katiatu Kamara, who is the prosecution witness No.15 in the DJ Clef murder trial, yesterday said, while being cross-examined by defence counsel M.P Sesay that the third accused (Avril Renner) stated in her statement that the deceased kissed her farewell before leaving the party with a fair in complexion lady.

David Sydney Buckle, a popular disc jockey, went missing on the night he attended a birthday party organised by Ms. Renner at the residence of first accused Mbaimba Moiforay.

The witness stated that the first accused told her that on the night of the party, he left for a bar at Kingtom.

She said that a vehicle numbered LAC 300, which the first accused left in on the night of the party, was not examined by investigators, adding that the accused stated that he knew the deceased only as an acquaintance.

The witness stated that she did not uncover any evidence that the first accused loaded the corpse of the deceased in his vehicle before he left the party.

Also, prosecution witness No.16, Police Constable 8709 Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, told the court that on 11 June, 2015 while on duty at the homicide office at the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters, he and Detective Inspector Abdul Jaitel Kamara interviewed third accused Avril Renner, adding that she was cautioned before the interrogation.

He said the third accused denied she had invited deceased to the party.

He said the third accused further told her that when the party was going on she saw the second accused (Foady Amara Kamara) moving in out of the compound but she couldn’t fathom what he was up to.

He said the third accused also recognised the car dust cover that was tender in court as exhibit as similar to one that the first accused used to cover one of his vehicles.

The witness added that the accused persons were charged with the offence of conspiracy to murder and murder contrary to law after they completed their investigation.

The matter continues on Tuesday, 7th June for further testimony by PW16.
