Buya Turay fires hat-trick as Kamara opens MLS account

May 31, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sierra Leone international striker Mohamed Buya Turay scored his first hat-trick for Athletic United in their 3-1 win over Syrianska FC on Sunday as they moved to the top of the Swedish Superettan (second tier) league table.

The 20-year-old opens his account from a free kick in the open 6th minute of play but Marko Nikolic leveled the score for the home side 12 minutes later. The Sierra Leonean forward doubled the away side’s lead four minutes after the break before grabbing his third in the 71st minute.

The victory move Athletic to the top of the Superettan, one point ahead of Halmstad, which however, have a game in hand while the hat-trick increased Turay’s tally to four goals in 10 matches this season.

New D.C. United acquisition, Alhaji Andriano Kamara, was the other Sierra Leonean striker who hit the target over the weekend. Kamara made an immediate impact in his MLS debut as he scored the only goal for D.C. United in their 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

The former FC Kallon forward came off the bench as D.C.’s final substitute in the 85th minute and took less than a minute to grab all three points for the visitors.

Kei Kamara’s wait for his first New England Revolution goal since joining them on transfer deadline day continues. Despite enjoying full time action the Sierra Leone striker was unable to find the net in their 2-1 win over Seattle Sounders.

New Miami FC signing, Michael Lahoud, also made his debut for the U.S. North American Soccer League side.

Elsewhere in Sweden, both Ibrahim Koroma and Ishmael Koroma had full time action for Husqvarna and Nyköping respectively.

Ishmael’s Nyköping suffered a 2-0 defeat to Enskede while Ibrahim’s Husqvarna side secured a 1-0 win over Mjällby.  Alhassan Crespo Kamara made a comeback in the Örebro squad in their goalless draw with AIK in the Swedish Allvenskan.
