Sierra Leone international, Gibrilla Wobay, has added the Slovenian PrvaLiga title to his trophy cabinet after helping his new club NK Olimpija win the Slovenian league crown.

With one match to go, Wobay’s NK Olimpija have already been crowned champions with three points above second place side NK Maribor, who are having 68 points.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder, who signed a one-and-half-year deal with the Slovenian club on 29 January, is delighted to add another trophy in his playing career.

He said: “It has been a fantastic run in for us, every game we go out and fight harder. We deserve to be champions.”

“I am extremely proud to be part of such an achievement, winning the league after 20 years with these amazing team-mates. We’re on top and I’m humbled.”

The Slovenian league crown is Wobay’s second league title, having won the Azerbaijan Premier League during the 2012/13 season with Neftchi Baku. He had also won two Azerbaijan league cups with Khazar Lankaran in 2010/11 and with Neftchi Baku during the 2012/13.

Since joining Olimpija, Woobay has made 12 appearances, scoring twice to help his side win the title.

NK Olimpija was founded on 2 March 2005 and only began participating in the Slovenian fifth tier during the 2005–06 season. The team has managed to achieve promotion in four successive seasons, reaching the top division for the first time in 2009, after winning the 2008/09 Slovenian Second tier league.
