A total of 16 participants, drawn from nationwide, are taking part in the high level coaching course which is conducted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) instructors Akinloye Rotimi of Nigeria and Ghanaian Noah Bukari.
President of SLTA, Arthur Harvey, revealed that the course was sponsored by the International Olympic Committee through the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone, which he said has been working hard for sports development in the country.
He disclosed that participants were drowned from different parts of the country and advised them to grab the opportunity and make the most out of the course.
NOC, Treasurer Prince Suellay, who also doubles as president of the Sierra Leone Wrestling Association, re-affirmed the NOC’S commitment to continue to support such programmes.
The course opening ceremony was new Sports Minister, Ahmed Khanou’s first official function since his appointment and he used that opportunity to call on all sporting associations to work collaboratively with his ministry for the overall development of the sector.
The Sports Minister also affirmed his commitment towards the development of sports in the country, adding that sports is now an industry which requires the mobilisation of resources.
He said: “Let me urge you the participants to remain focus and pass on the acquired knowledge to the athletes because you form the nucleus of the sporting association.”
