 Koroma makes Husqvarna FF debut as Kei Kamara scores in Crew win

Sierra Leonean defender Ibrahim ‘Marcel’ Koroma made his debut for Husqvarna FF on Sunday in the Swedish Division 1 to help his side force Qviding FIF to a 2-2 draw.

The 26-year old, who returned to Sweden from Danish club Lyngby for an undisclosed fee, played for 47 minutes and got his name in the referee’s book in the 37th minute before he was replaced by Henningsson.

Midfielder Ibrahim Kallay was another Sierra Leonean to make his debut during the weekend. The former FC Kallon midfielder played full time for Piteå IF in their 2-0 defeat away to IF Brommapojkarna

While Koroma and Kallay made their debut in Sweden, Kei Kamara scored his second goal of the new U.S Major League Soccer (MLS) season to help Columbus Crew register their first win of the 2016 campaign on Saturday as they defeated New York City 3-2.

Ethan Finlay gave the Crew an early lead but David Villa levelled things up eight minutes later for the visitors.

Sierra Leone forward Kei Kamara restored the home side’s lead just four minutes after the break and Justin Meram’s 80th minute strike sealed the win for the home side, but Villa’s second goal of the day could not rescue a point for the visitors.

Midfielder Michael Lahoud also had full time action for New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League, but they were defeat 2-1 by Indy Eleven.

In England, Sullay Kaikai was again in full time action for Shrewsbury Town as they were forced to a 1-1 draw against Bradford City, while in the National League, former Leone Stars captain Ibrahim ‘Obreh’ Kargbo’s Welling United were relegated after a 4-0, defeat to fellow strugglers Chester FC. The former Willem II midfielder was part of the Wings side that was defeated on Saturday at Chester.

In Belarus, Umaru Bangura’s Dinamo Minsk were held to a goalless draw by Shakhtyor, while David Simbo was an unused sub for Krumkachy Minsk, who were also held by Isloch by the same scoreline.

Rodnney Strasser continues to settle as a regular for NK Zagreb, but their battle to escape relegation still continues after 1-0 defeat to  Dinamo Zagreb.

Another Sierra Leonean midfielder who continues to enjoy full time action for his new club is John Kamara. The 27-year-old was in the Riga squad held to a goalless draw in the Latvia league.

In the German second tier league, George Davies came off the bench in the 68 minutes in Greuther Fürth’s 3-1 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf, while Julius Wobay was introduced in the 54th minutes for Olimpija as they defeated Domžale 1-0.
