Sierra Leone national cricket team ‘The Patriot’ got-off to a flying start in their ICC Africa T20 division II tournament with a comfortable six wickets win over Mozambique.
It win was an historic one for Sierra Leone as it marked their first victory over Mozambique in a senior level match.
Sierra Leone won the toss and elected to bowl first, giving the Mozambique the option to bat, and they were all bowled out for 119 in 19.2 overs. The Sierra Leone skipper, Lansana Lamin, took full command with his bowling prowess, taking four wickets from four overs and only conceded 13 runs with an economy rate of 3.2 run an over.
The second inning saw Sierra Leone take the cress and replied with 122 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 16.5 overs. Emmanuel Kamara was Sierra Leone’s top scorer with 52 runs off 43 balls.
Lansana Lamin, who was not out, scored 23 runs off 11, while Mohamed Shamshad Khan, also not out, scored 12 runs of 6 balls.
