Head coach of Sierra Leone beach volleyball team, Sorie Kamara, says he is pleased with the artificial beach at the Jabbie Lake venue which was announced as official ground for the 2016 final round of the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifiers.

After the team’s first training session at the tournament ground in Abuja Tuesday, coach Kamara said that although the sand is hard but it is good for his team.

He said: “The nature of the sand is almost the same sand in Freetown so we are ok with the venue.”  Sierra Leone has been drawn in Pool B alongside tournament favourites Morocco, Namibia, Ghana, Kenya and Rwanda.

Already 10 out of 12 participating teams are said to have arrived in Abuja ahead of the kick-off on Thursday, 14 April.

The Jabbie Lake artificial beach is divided into two main courts and two training courts.
