Abdulai Russell of Hanga Road in Kenema, eastern Sierra Leone, was last Friday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for allegedly trafficking his younger brother, Umaro Russell, for the sum of Le3m.
The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, presided by Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara, on one count of trafficking in person, contrary to the laws of the country.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Friday, 11 March, 2016 trafficked his younger brother Umaro Russell at the Big Market, Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown.
According to Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent Samuel Kamara, a concerned citizen reported the matter to the Police after the chairlady of the market informed him that a certain man was auctioning a boy the price stated above.
However, ASP Kamara asked for an adjournment because prosecutor witnesses were not in court, promising they would be at the hearing on 18 April, 2016.
The matter continues.
